SALIS - SINCE 1926

WHO WE ARE | OUR HISTORY

The Italian know-how culture

SALIS is a story of women and men, of relentless commitment and artisanal mastery. A tale woven from the continuous pursuit of uniqueness, in a world often inclined towards conformist choices.

Each SALIS collection and project is the outcome of this dedication, aimed at product design and optimizing the performance of wooden surfaces, without ever neglecting the sustainability of the production process.

The passion driving our work is the fruit of years of hard labor, an authentic expression of craftsmanship passed down through generations. In a world that frequently embraces standardization, we commit ourselves to exploring diversity, creating unique and genuine solutions to meet our customers’ needs.

MISSION

We have been in business since 1926, and we have always operated in one of Italy’s most beautiful corners: Umbria, which is also the heart of Italy. Today, we follow the same values as when we started; we are still “one big family” that pays close attention to the needs and well-being of the Salis community and strives to improve day by day.

Giovanbattista Simonetti,  Salis CEO

PRODUCTS ARE ONLY A SUMMARY OF THE TALES WE ARE ABLE TO TELL

1926 > 1950

Simonetti Giovanni & sons began their entrepreneurial activity by processing the agricultural products of the family farm into canned foods under the S.A.L.P. brand.

In the early 1950s, Giancarlo decided to start producing wooden window frames under the S.A.L.I.S. brand (società anonima lavorazione infissi serrande).

The ongoing reconstruction in the country generated a strong demand for building products, thus the new business focused on window and door frame production.

The production cycle was complete, involving the sawing of logs, sectioning, profiling, planing, assembling, and painting of every single part of the frame.

1950 > 1970

In the 1960s, the company specialized first in the production of wooden roller shutters, then expanded into the emerging market of PVC roller shutters.

The facilities operated on a full, continuous cycle; production grew significantly, and the company soon became an important industrial reality in the Umbria region, also reaching the market of the nearby Capital.

1980 > 2016

In the 1980s, Giovanni, Paolo, Francesco, and Carlo, sons of Giancarlo, joined the business, revitalizing the company by once again shifting its production focus, this time to parquet.

They purchased new machinery, studied production lines that greatly reduced manual labor, and began producing exquisite wooden flooring.

In 1986, Simonetti Giovanni & sons s.n.c. transferred its business to Salis, remaining active as a real estate and financial company; thus Salis s.r.l. was born.

4° GENERATION TEXTURE | NATURAL SURFACES

The fourth generation of the family leads the company into a new phase of product design approach, respecting SALIS’s philosophy but rewriting its vision in the language of today and tomorrow.
